Four signs of a job scam

  • Money up front. Deposits, “activation” or training fees. Legitimate employers pay you, not the reverse.
  • Singpass, NRIC or bank login requested to apply. Never share these.
  • “Simple tasks” from your phone with daily payouts. Task scams have cost Singaporeans over S$10 million since October 2025.
  • Telegram-only contact with no company name, address or UEN.

Current job-scam patterns in Singapore

Task and survey jobs
Social-media ads for simple online tasks. Victims earn a little, then pay deposits to unlock more. Over 215 cases and S$10.6 million lost since October 2025 (SPF).
Agency impersonation and Singpass
Fake concert-crew or event-crew ads in a real agency’s name; victims hand over Singpass access. Check the MOM employment-agency licence number and never share Singpass.
Crypto “work from home”
Roles that lead you into buying cryptocurrency or sharing a seed phrase.
Money-mule roles
“Easy pay” for receiving transfers or lending your bank account. This is an offence even if you were deceived.
