About the role
This contract role sits within the Finance Division's Financial Planning & Control Department, supporting budgeting, accounting and reporting for Head Office Divisions. You will handle fixed and variable cost items, working closely with various divisions to ensure accurate accounting and effective budgetary control. It suits a detail-minded accounting professional who enjoys analysis, stakeholder liaison and process improvement.
What you'll do
Review accruals and journal vouchers for accuracy and completeness, checking for omissions or errors in invoices and JVs.
Approve accounts receivable and accounts payable invoices, ensuring correct accounting allocation by division.

Monitor and review monthly accounts variance analysis, tracking divisional expenditure against budget and forecast.
Work with users to explain budget overruns and supplementary budgets, ensuring compliance with Finance Manual procedures.
Discuss and liaise with divisions on accounting treatment for business processes and initiatives.
Compile and analyse material monthly expense variances, submitting monthly, quarterly and yearly reports to Corporate Accounts & Projects within reporting timelines.
Monitor and clear suspense accounts within set timelines, working with users on balances exceeding stipulated timelines.
Assist with preparation for the annual operating budget and long-term projection exercise, supporting divisions on related queries.
Work with divisions to identify and achieve cost savings and efficiencies, and assist with preparation of budget papers.
Assist with monthly rolling forecast exercises, analysing significant variances and preparing forecast materials.
Understand divisional business processes and how they relate to accounting treatment, providing value-added advice where needed.
Work with internal and external auditors during audits, following up on recommendations.
Handle ad-hoc projects such as IT system implementation or enhancements to improve processes, and act as department representative for ad-hoc exercises or administrative matters.
Provide guidance to staff on work procedures, system use and problem resolution, and monitor and assess staff performance.

Requirements
University Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy or an equivalent professional qualification recognised by ACCA
