About the role

This locum role supports the Eye-PACE clinic within the Department of Ophthalmology at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. You will assess ophthalmology patients who are scheduled for ocular surgery, working alongside PACE nurses under clear pre-anaesthetic work-up guidelines. It suits doctors with ophthalmology experience who are active in clinical practice and comfortable with clinical IT systems.

Review ophthalmology patients listed for ocular surgery
Screen each patient's medical history
Confirm the patient is fit for surgery according to established PACE guidelines
Perform a history and physical examination
Carry out a medication review
Counsel patients on nil by mouth and medication instructions before surgery, including stopping anti-platelet therapy where needed
Review pre-operative blood results and ECG findings
Dispense pre-operative eye drops
Order relevant peri-operative medication when required
Assist PACE nurses when needed

Requirements

MBBS from a Singapore university or equivalent, registrable with SMC
Full Registration with the Singapore Medical Council
Active in clinical practice with at least 3 years' experience as a Medical Officer post-housemanship
Ophthalmology experience preferred
IT skills in office and clinical PC applications
