About the role
This role involves delivering weapons training according to approved lesson plans and SAF requirements, while supervising practical sessions and assessing trainee competency. You will also take on leadership duties, guiding a team of trainers and managing training programmes and resources. It suits someone with strong instructional skills in weapons handling who is ready to mentor others and uphold safety and training standards.
What you'll do
Conduct weapons training following approved lesson plans, training directives and SAF requirements
Demonstrate weapon handling, drills and procedures, supervise practical training, assess trainee competency and conduct After Action Reviews
Enforce weapons and training safety requirements, and perform appointed roles such as CSO, RSM, Conducting Officer or Supervising Officer where qualified
Ensure risk-control measures, safety procedures, medical support and post-activity recovery are properly implemented
Plan, coordinate and manage training programmes and activities, including manpower and trainer deployment plans
Allocate instructional duties and coordinate facilities, equipment and logistics
Monitor course KPIs and ensure timely completion of reports and administrative requirements
Lead and supervise assigned Weapons Trainers, allocate work, provide day-to-day direction, coach and mentor junior trainers
Monitor performance and competency, identify development needs, provide performance feedback and support trainers' development towards higher appointments
Maintain training standards and weapon-system knowledge, engage SAF Course Commanders, SMEs and internal stakeholders, manage training-related issues, capture lessons learnt and recommend improvements
Ensure updates to doctrine and training materials are disseminated, and support management in improving operational effectiveness
Manage manpower by planning trainer deployment, duty allocation and utilisation to meet operational requirements
Supervise staff, ensuring assigned duties are performed safely, professionally and effectively
Monitor individual performance, conduct coaching and provide inputs for appraisal, confirmation and development
Identify competency gaps and develop trainers through OJT, coaching, cross-training and progressive appointments
Maintain professional, instructional, safety and workplace standards within the team
Ensure effective utilisation and accountability of training equipment, stores, facilities and other resources
Anticipate manpower and resource constraints, resolve operational issues and escalate significant risks to management
Monitor training delivery, customer requirements, course performance and other operational KPIs
Serve as a key interface with SAF Course Commanders, weapon SMEs and relevant internal departments
Analyse AAR findings, incidents, feedback and operational data and implement appropriate improvements
