About the role
You will join the Experimental Systems and Technology Lab (ESTL), an engineering team within the Ministry of Education, working on the next generation of the Student Learning Space platform. The team brings together engineers, UX designers and education officers to build software that supports digitalisation and innovation in education. This role suits an experienced engineer who enjoys building scalable systems and collaborating across disciplines.
What you'll do
- Design, develop and maintain robust, scalable software modules for the Student Learning Space.
- Write clean, testable and efficient code following established engineering standards.
- Work with Product Managers, UX Designers and Education Officers to turn curriculum and pedagogical needs into digital experiences.
- Contribute to architectural discussions and technical decisions on platform performance and maintainability.
- Take part in and conduct code reviews, and mentor junior engineers.
- Support the CI/CD pipeline and manage cloud-native deployments for availability and security.
- Participate in agile ceremonies including sprint planning, estimations and retrospectives.

Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
- 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience, preferably full-stack
- Strong foundation in modern programming languages such as Python, Node.js or Go
- Experience with frontend frameworks such as React or Vue
- Experience with cloud-native architectures (AWS, Azure or GCP) and microservices
- Familiarity with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD tools
