About the role
You will join the production team at an air-conditioned printing plant, reporting to the Production Manager. The role covers planning and supervising newspaper printing operations across offset and digital presses, and it suits someone with a technical background who can lead a shift crew.
What you'll do
Run and watch over production equipment in standalone and integrated modes, covering the Press, Container-to-Plate (CtP) and Mailroom Systems
Use and manage production control software such as MPS, Arkitex and PPM
Keep production hardware, software and auxiliary systems working together smoothly so production targets are met
Check and resolve problems with print quality, machine downtime and production wastage, putting corrective actions in place
Make sure printed products are accurate and meet production schedules, including deadlines, imprint lines and content requirements
Track production progress and completion timelines, and raise operational issues when targets are at risk
Handle manpower deployment, workload needs, leave applications and overtime activation to support operations
Coordinate and oversee commercial newspaper insertion jobs and work with in-house contractors to ensure timely completion
Monitor prepress and CtP workflows, including page transmission, plate production and consumable usage, and prepare management reports
Carry out risk assessments and propose workplace safety and health control measures for a safe production environment

Requirements
Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or a related discipline
At least 3 years of relevant experience
Strong technical knowledge
Good people management skills
Innovative and able to establish alternative working methods
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and production reporting systems
