About the role
This role supports the Component Service Centre team, leading a group of Technical Officers to keep trains, equipment and components in good working order. It suits someone with a hands-on engineering background who is comfortable supervising others and working to strict safety and quality standards.
What you'll do
Lead a team of Technical Officers on scheduled preventive and corrective maintenance for trains, equipment and components.
Plan and supervise the work done by team members.
Carry out maintenance tasks in line with approved quality procedures and work instructions.
Follow approved safety and operational procedures at all times.
Attend skills courses to build the ability to perform maintenance tasks.
Help the Engineering Maintenance Manager meet divisional key performance indicators.

Support the EMM with planning of work duties.
Pass on instructions and procedures from supervisors to team members.
Assist supervisors with engineering analysis and investigations into incidents or accidents.
Help prepare quality procedures, risk assessments, work instructions and work records.
Raise corrective maintenance job orders and review them on completion when needed.
Record reported faults, complete work orders and enter data into SAP, Maximo or other recording systems.
Complete technical skills training provided by SMRT and gain the qualification needed to work on the Component Service Centre.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on the Component Service Centre as assigned.
Finish maintenance tasks within set standard times and according to work instructions and procedures.
Keep self and co-workers, including contractors, safe by following safety procedures.
Carry out supporting maintenance activities such as overhead crane operation or forklift driving when authorised and required.
Handle housekeeping and cleaning at the workplace to keep it orderly and hygienic.
Work on a shift roster when required, in line with MOM guidelines and the Collective Agreement.
Take on other incidental or ancillary tasks, such as attending to emergency mainline incidents as assigned.

Shift roster work may be required.
Standard personal protective equipment including safety shoes, gloves, masks and hearing protection is provided.
The role involves working at height on train roofs, climbing stairs and ladders, standing for up to 4 hours, lifting items up to 10kg for men and 7kg for women, and working underframe of EMU with frequent squatting and bending.
Work under the sun may be required for related operations.
Requirements
Polytechnic diploma in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Technology/Engineering or equivalent from a recognised institution
Preferably 1 to 3 years relevant experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of electro-mechanical equipment
Welder or machinist qualification is an added advantage
Able to lead and supervise a team
Self-motivated, resourceful, organised, independent with strong interpersonal and communication skills
Able to communicate effectively and work well in a team
