About the role

This role leads a team of Technical Officers carrying out scheduled preventive and corrective maintenance on electric multiple units, components and equipment. You will work in a depot environment on rolling stock and specialised track maintenance vehicles, coordinating with other teams to complete tasks within set timeframes. It suits someone with an engineering diploma and experience supervising maintenance teams who is comfortable with shift work and hands-on physical tasks.

What you'll do

Lead a team of Technical Officers on preventive and corrective maintenance of EMUs, components and equipment
Ensure the team follows approved work instructions, quality procedures and safety and operational procedures
Plan and coordinate with your team and other teams to finish assigned maintenance tasks within standard time

Confirm team members hold the necessary qualifications and authorisation for daily and assigned tasks

Attend skills courses to carry out maintenance and assigned tasks

Take responsibility for the safety, welfare and discipline of your team

Maintain team equipment, tools and the working environment

Plan team duty rosters with the Engineering Maintenance Manager

Pass on instructions and procedures from supervisors to team members

Handle maintenance administration and documentation, including recording faults, raising work orders and completing them in the maintenance management system

Supervise preventive and corrective maintenance on locomotives and Specialised Track Maintenance Vehicles

Perform shunting or ground shunter duties as assigned

Operate ground support equipment and tools safely as assigned

Drive locomotives or Specialised Track Maintenance Vehicles within depot sidings, test track and maintenance tracks as assigned

Carry out any other ad-hoc duties as assigned

Shift system applies
Standard PPE of safety shoes, gloves, masks and hearing protection is provided
Work includes at-height tasks on train roofs, underframe work, and standing or squatting for extended periods
Lifting of tools, equipment or spares up to 10kg for men and 7kg for women

Requirements

Diploma in Engineering or equivalent
Preferably at least 4 years of relevant experience leading maintenance teams and troubleshooting electro-mechanical equipment
Not sensitive or allergic to rolling stock materials, petrol, oils, lubricants and dust
Able to work at height on train roofs with safety equipment
Fit enough to climb staircases and ladders and stand for up to 4 hours
Able to lift tools, equipment or spares up to 10kg (men) or 7kg (women)
