About the role

This role leads track renewal work for SMRT, managing a team of technical officers and contractors on system-wide repair, maintenance and replacement of track components such as rails, switches and crossings. It suits someone with a engineering diploma and field maintenance experience who can supervise crews and keep rail change work safe and on schedule.

What you'll do

Organise and plan rail change activities
Carry out tasks following work instructions and procedures
Follow safety procedures at all times
Take responsibility for the safety of yourself, peers and the track during work

Act as person-in-charge and handle preventive maintenance duties

Complete paperwork for all tasks

Finish rail change or built-up welding works within set time frames

Coordinate and supervise contractors on rail change activities

Supervise a team of technical officers on rail change activities

Coordinate with other departments involved in rail change work

Plan and forecast materials, tools and equipment for continuous rail change operations

Check and verify staff leave and claims submissions

Perform ultrasonic tests when required

Help train new staff on rail change operations

Requirements

Diploma in Mechatronics, Mechanical or Civil Engineering
Preferably 3–4 years of field maintenance experience
Able to communicate effectively
A good team player
Proficient in using tools and equipment
