About the role
This role leads a team of Technical Officers carrying out scheduled preventive and corrective maintenance on trains, components and equipment. You will work in a rolling stock maintenance environment, planning and coordinating tasks so they are completed safely and within set times. It suits someone with an engineering diploma and experience supervising a maintenance team who is comfortable with shift work and hands-on troubleshooting.

Lead a team of Technical Officers on preventive and corrective maintenance of trains, components and equipment as assigned by managers
Make sure the team follows approved work instructions, quality procedures, safety and operational procedures and good maintenance standards
Plan and coordinate with your team and other teams to finish assigned maintenance tasks within standard times

Confirm team members hold the needed qualifications and authorisation for daily and assigned tasks
Attend skills courses to carry out maintenance and assigned tasks
Take responsibility for the safety, welfare and discipline of your team
Maintain team equipment, tools and the working environment
Complete SMRT technical skills training and gain the qualification to work on rolling stock
Be accountable for the quality and standards of preventive and corrective maintenance within set times, following work instructions and procedures
Practise safety at all times according to established procedures, for yourself, co-workers and contractors
Diagnose and troubleshoot electro-mechanical systems
Forecast and plan team resources so maintenance and assigned tasks are completed on time
Hold regular engagement sessions with your team to understand them better and give performance feedback
Support maintenance activities such as maintenance train shunter, overhead crane operator and forklift driver when authorised and required
Carry out housekeeping and cleaning at the workplace to keep it orderly and hygienic
Work on a shift roster system in line with MOM guidelines and the Collective Agreement
Handle other incidental or ancillary tasks, such as attending to emergency mainline incidents, as assigned by the manager

Work includes height work on the train roof, underframe work, climbing staircases and ladders, standing for up to 4 hours, and lifting tools, equipment or spares of up to 10kg for men and 7kg for women
Requirements
Diploma in Engineering or equivalent
Preferably at least 4 years of relevant experience leading maintenance teams and troubleshooting electro-mechanical equipment
Not sensitive or allergic to rolling stock materials, POLs (petrol, oils and lubricants) and dust
Able to work at height on the train roof with the necessary safety equipment
Fit and able to climb staircases and ladders and stand for up to 4 hours
Able to lift tools, equipment or spares of up to 10kg (men) or 7kg (women)
