About the role

This role sits in Marriott International's Law Department in Singapore, supporting attorneys on employment matters and, when needed, corporate work for managed, franchise and residential projects across Asia Pacific excluding China. You will report to a Vice President & Senior Counsel and work with a global hospitality company that operates and licenses thousands of hotels and branded residences worldwide. It suits a detail-oriented paralegal or legal manager who can handle a high volume of commercial contracts and work with little supervision.

What you'll do

Prepare, review and maintain employment documents such as contracts, show cause letters, disciplinary outcome letters and mutual separation documents
Carry out legal research on statutory labour and employment requirements across APEC
Help draft and review employment policies and guidance notes
Keep employment precedent libraries and templates current
Assist with responses to routine employment and labour law queries
Give day-to-day support to employment counsel on employment and labour matters across APEC jurisdictions
Prepare first drafts of management, franchise, residential and other hotel-related agreements under attorney direction
Coordinate with external legal counsel on due diligence and other legal advice under attorney supervision
Lead transaction closings by managing agreement execution and obtaining internal powers of attorney and other authorisations
Maintain a knowledge database of current agreements, standard forms, alternative provisions and legal research

Requirements

4+ years as a paralegal or legal manager handling commercial contracts in a law firm or MNC law department, or 1+ years as an attorney in transactional or corporate practice
At least a legal diploma or equivalent
Diligence, dependability and a strong work ethic with close attention to detail
Good project and time management, able to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume setting
Able to work independently with minimal supervision and also within a team
Adaptable to different working styles and changing work demands
