About the role

This role provides radiation oncology care within the National Cancer Institute of Singapore, working as part of a multidisciplinary cancer care team. It suits a doctor with specialist training in radiation oncology who is comfortable with advanced treatment techniques and keen to contribute to teaching and research.

What you'll do

Provide radiation oncology consultations covering patient assessment, staging, treatment intent and informed consent
Formulate individualised radiation treatment plans with medical physicists and dosimetrists
Use advanced techniques such as IMRT, VMAT, SBRT, SRS, IGRT, brachytherapy and adaptive radiotherapy
Delineate target volumes and contour organs at risk using CT, MRI and PET-CT imaging
Supervise and verify treatment delivery, following prescribed parameters and radiation safety protocols

Conduct on-treatment reviews, manage acute radiation toxicities and coordinate supportive care

Take part in multidisciplinary tumour boards across disease sites

Provide input for combined modality treatments such as concurrent chemoradiation

Manage radiation oncology emergencies and provide on-call coverage as rostered

Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the electronic medical record

Teach and mentor registrars, resident physicians, medical students and allied health professionals

Support educational materials, e-learning resources and continuing medical education activities

Conduct clinical and translational research and contribute to trials

Seek competitive research funding from grant agencies

Help evaluate and adopt new radiation therapy technologies

Good to know

On-call coverage is rostered by the Head of Department
Teaching involves bedside teaching, case-based discussions, contouring workshops and simulation-based training
May be required to perform the duties of the next lower grade to ensure continuity of patient care

Requirements

Specialist training in radiation oncology
Ability to perform target volume delineation and organ-at-risk contouring
Familiarity with advanced radiation therapy techniques such as IMRT, VMAT, SBRT, SRS, IGRT, brachytherapy and adaptive radiotherapy
Knowledge of radiation safety regulations and quality assurance protocols
Willingness to provide on-call coverage as rostered
Commitment to teaching and mentoring junior doctors and students
