About the role

This role sits within Group Technology at an institutional bank, providing L2 production support for mission-critical Transaction Banking platforms. You will lead incident and problem management, drive automation and reliability practices, and work with application, infrastructure and platform teams. What you'll do

Deliver high-quality L2 production support for mission-critical Transaction Banking platforms covering Payments, Cash Management, Trade Finance, Securities and Fiduciary Services.
Lead the management and resolution of production incidents, keeping business disruption minimal and meeting service level commitments.
Drive root cause analysis and problem management, working with application, infrastructure and platform teams on sustainable fixes.
Proactively monitor system health, application performance, capacity and service availability to spot risks and prevent failures.
Lead major incident management, coordinating cross-functional teams and communicating with business and technology stakeholders.
Coordinate and run disaster recovery exercises, business continuity activities and resilience testing.
Drive operational excellence through automation, observability, proactive problem management and SRE practices.
Own and improve service stability metrics such as availability, incident trends, recovery time and operational risk indicators.
Ensure compliance with security standards, regulatory requirements, audit controls and ITIL service management processes.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to improving support processes, operational standards and team capabilities.

Requirements

Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline
At least 8 years of relevant experience in Production Support, Application Support, SRE or Platform Operations
Experience supporting mission-critical banking applications in financial services, preferably across Payments, Cash Management, Trade Finance, Custody, Securities or Transaction Banking
Strong technical expertise in Unix/Linux, SQL databases (Oracle, MariaDB), shell scripting and application troubleshooting
Hands-on experience with middleware and messaging technologies such as MQ, WebSphere or equivalent
Experience with enterprise observability and monitoring tools such as Geneos, Splunk, Grafana, AppDynamics, Dynatrace or equivalent
