About the role
This role leads architecture and delivery across secure hybrid IT environments, private 4G/5G mobile core, observability and service management platforms. It suits a senior architect with a strong track record in complex government or critical infrastructure programmes and secured environments. You will work with security, telco and IT teams to ensure mission-critical uptime and service assurance.
What you'll do
Lead architecture and delivery for on-premise data centre infrastructure, private cloud platforms (hypervisor/containers), and backup, DR and cyber vault architecture.
Oversee high availability and multi-site resiliency design, including stretched clusters.
Oversee security zoning and microsegmentation.
Align business continuity to mission SLAs.
Co-lead deployment and integration of EPC/5GC components (AMF, SMF, UPF, HSS/UDM, PCF).

Co-lead shared RAN integration, redundant user plane design, network slicing where applicable, and edge computing interoperability.
Ensure delivery aligns to CII-grade safety-critical uptime, mission-critical QoS and latency assurance, SOC and observability platform integration, and telecom-grade high availability and failover mechanisms.
Provide cross-layer assurance between mobile core, IT infrastructure, and service management systems.
Own architecture and deployment of an Elastic-based observability platform, including Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, infrastructure monitoring, SIEM integration, telco telemetry ingestion (5G KPIs, GTP, PFCP metrics), and synthetic monitoring and service health dashboards.
Lead implementation and operationalisation of ServiceNow, including ITSM (Incident, Problem, Change, Request), CMDB (including telco and infrastructure asset modelling), ITOM (Discovery, Event Management), Service Mapping, SecOps integration, and workflow automation.
Ensure closed-loop automation from Elastic alerts to ServiceNow ticketing to orchestration workflows, mission-based SLA modelling, integrated IT and telco service visibility, automation-led incident response, and operational reporting for agency leadership.
Partner with CISO and security stakeholders to ensure secure-by-design delivery.
Oversee secure enclave architecture, network segmentation and boundary defence, data encryption at rest and in transit, bastion host and privileged access management, and Zero Trust architecture implementation.
Engage with security assessors, government accreditation authorities, and compliance audit bodies.
Define and operationalise the Target Operating Model (TOM) for steady-state operations.
Oversee transition from build to run, L1–L3 support structure, NOC/SOC integration, escalation matrix and RACI governance, and operational playbooks and runbooks.
Drive observability-first operational readiness, automation and AIOps roadmap, cross-functional integration between IT, Telco, and Security teams, and continuous service improvement model.
