Deputy Commissioner, Online Safety Commission

About the role

The Online Safety Commission (OSC) is a new government agency supporting the Commissioner of Online Safety under the Online Safety (Relief and Accountability) Act 2025. Reporting to the Commissioner, you will lead the end-to-end delivery of victim complaints operations, directly overseeing the Case Resolution and Investigations teams. You will design and refine complaint handling frameworks, set service standards, and develop investigation protocols for complex or high-risk cases. You will also build strong relationships with government agencies, technology platforms, and community organisations to enable timely victim relief. Additionally, you will lead and develop multidisciplinary teams, establish quality controls, and ensure governance and risk management across case operations.

Requirements

• At least 10 years’ supervisory experience in operations, investigations, trust & safety, technology policy, regulatory operations, enforcement, or complex service delivery
• Experience designing and running high-volume, high-stakes casework operations with clear service standards and quality controls
• Familiarity with online platforms, content moderation, and enforcement processes
• Strong judgment and decision-making in ambiguous, sensitive, and time-critical situations
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Proven people leader with ability to build capability and psychological safety
