About the role
Lead and support the lending strategy for Private Banking across ASEAN, working with relationship managers and credit teams to structure bespoke financing solutions for high-net-worth clients. The role sits within Standard Chartered's Private Bank and suits an experienced lending professional who can balance client needs with sound risk management. You will also help develop team members and contribute to the broader business objectives.
What you'll do
Lead and support lending strategy for Private Banking locally and globally
Originate lending deals by providing client-centric solutions to ASEAN Private Banking clients
Act as first line of defence and ensure sufficient risk management

Engage with relationship managers and clients to build understanding of lending products
Help close new lending deals to contribute to the team and PvB budget
Analyse and assess bespoke financing cases, including financial conditions, operations and market position of underlying companies
Work closely with a senior lender from start to end in loan execution
Prepare client proposals, pitchbooks and industry updates
Track market and general financial and economic developments
Participate in projects to spearhead lending initiatives
Collaborate with frontline, support functions, business partners and product specialists
Support delivery of the Private Bank's short and longer-term objectives
Ensure timely turnaround on tasks including enquiries from RMs and clients, and ongoing reviews of existing accounts
Support the team in annual renewal cases and reviews
Meet clients and tailor lending solutions based on their needs and the bank's risk appetite
Support RMs in the credit process and perform tasks per Global LST Rules of Engagement
Comply with internal policies, procedures, codes and applicable external laws and regulations
Get involved in and lead some development as part of credit process upgrades
Develop and groom team members into future leaders and ensure leadership contingencies
Help build a team capable of delivering the strategy and business plans
Help employ, engage and retain high quality people through guidance, empowerment, mentorship and feedback
Avoid reputational risks and operational losses
Gain thorough understanding of risk and control environment and drive rectifications
Ensure effective implementation of the Risk Management framework in the team
Ensure systems and procedures safeguard security, integrity and confidentiality of information
Ensure systems and controls comply with Group and Business policies, procedures, standards and codes
Ensure adherence to and regular training on regulatory compliance policies including Treating Customers Fairly, Suitability, KYC, AML, CDD, AOD, sanctions laws and terrorist financing
Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group's Values and Code of Conduct
Take personal responsibility for embedding high standards of ethics, regulatory and business cond
Requirements
Bachelor's degree or MBA
CFA certification is a plus
English and Mandarin language proficiency
Financial and fundamental analysis skills
Structuring of financing deals
