About the role

You will support the Section Manager in running the CS&M Shop, keeping preventive and corrective maintenance on trains, equipment and components on schedule. The role covers leading a team of engineers, assistant engineers and technical officers while maintaining safe, reliable and cost-effective operations. It suits someone with a maintenance engineering background who is comfortable supervising a workshop team and working shifts when required.

What you'll do

Plan and supervise the work your team carries out
Help the Section Manager meet the division's key performance indicators
Assist with planning work duties
Help oversee how instructions and procedures are passed to team members
Support engineering analysis and investigations into incidents and accidents

Help prepare quality procedures, risk assessments, work instructions and work records

Help with periodic reviews of those quality procedures, risk assessments, work instructions and work records

Provide inputs for budgeting and expenses of the section's cost centre

Help manage tools, calibration, support equipment and spares procurement

Handle administrative duties for team staff

Take responsibility for the safety of staff under your charge, including toolbox briefings and audits, safety and admin messages, and compliance with safety procedures

Uphold safety for yourself and all co-workers, including contractors

Drive productivity, efficiency and innovation for the team and branch through engagement with staff and external partners

Complete SMRT technical skills training and gain the qualification needed to work on the SMRT Component Service Centre

Keep the workplace orderly and hygienic

Take on other incidental or ancillary tasks, such as attending emergency mainline incidents as assigned by your supervisor

Shift roster system may apply, in line with MOM guidelines and the Collective Agreement
Technical skills training provided by SMRT

Requirements

Polytechnic diploma in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Technology/Engineering or equivalent from a recognised institution
Preferably 5 years' relevant experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of electro-mechanical equipment
Able to lead and supervise a team
Self-motivated, resourceful, organised, independent, with strong interpersonal and communication skills
Able to communicate effectively and work as a good team player
Able to work independently
