About the role

You will support the reception and reservations team at a celebrity chef Italian restaurant within a five-star hotel, working closely with the head host to keep the welcome and booking experience smooth and on-brand. The role also covers menu design and printing, event sheets, and handling guest enquiries and emails. It suits someone with a hospitality background who enjoys guest-facing work and is comfortable in a fast-paced restaurant setting.

What you'll do

Know the food and beverage menu well and explain items to guests
Understand dietary needs and suggest suitable options
Recommend menu choices for guests with different dietary requirements
Know other outlets' menus to refer guests elsewhere
Keep the restaurant clean and tidy and ready for guests
Manage the reservation system, reception counter and guest welcome
Handle the SevenRooms reservation system and train the team on it
Greet guests entering and leaving the restaurant
Escort guests to tables, present menus and explain them
Plan, design and implement menu changes with the guest in mind
Follow all service procedures to required standards
Keep the guest database updated in the system
Follow up on guest emails and enquiries
Take ownership of the service experience for guests in your area
Answer guest questions promptly and escalate to a supervisor when unsure
Watch guest tables for service needs and check satisfaction
Maintain cleanliness of all restaurant areas per operating procedures
Assist guests as they leave and check for left belongings
Follow safe and healthy working practices during service
Report accidents or incidents to a supervisor or manager
Uphold the Food & Beverage mission with all team members
Guide new team members, trainees and casual labour
Carry out other reasonable duties as assigned
Work with the general manager on upcoming events and VIP arrivals
Write menu descriptions with the executive chef

Requirements

2 to 4 years' experience in a similar role at a 5-star hotel or celebrity chef restaurant
Good verbal and written English
Motivated and eager to learn
Flexible and responsive to changing requirements
Outgoing personality and willing to work long hours
Familiar with SevenRooms or a similar reservation system
