Instrument Technician

About the role

You will handle the decontamination, sterilisation and distribution of medical instruments and equipment in the Central Sterile Supply Department. Your duties include receiving, sorting and disassembling specialty instruments such as robotic instruments, powered tools and flexible endoscopes, and operating automated endoscope reprocessors, washer-disinfectors and ultrasonic equipment. You will also assemble and pack instrument sets, run sterilisation cycles, and perform quality checks like ATP, Bowie Dick and Biological Indicator tests. You will issue instruments to clinical areas, monitor stock levels and keep records of all quality assurance activities. You may also supervise and train junior staff and handle telephone enquiries from other departments.

Requirements

• Diploma in Engineering or GCE 'N' level/NITEC equivalent with relevant sterilisation training
• 4 years relevant experience in sterile processing or central supply operations (if no diploma)
• Knowledge of infection control principles and sterilisation techniques
• Good command of written English
• Basic IT proficiency and knowledge of Microsoft Office
