About the role

The Chinese Media Group is setting up a new Misinformation Awareness and Verification Unit to strengthen information integrity in the digital age. This unit blends journalism, digital verification and public education to produce trusted reporting and practical verification tools. The role suits a curious, analytical person with sound judgement, strong writing skills and a passion for fact-checking and digital investigations.

What you'll do

Carry out digital investigations into online claims, AI-generated content and emerging misinformation trends using open-source research, verification techniques and other digital investigative methods.
Write clear, evidence-based journalism and explanatory content that helps audiences understand complex digital issues and navigate today's information landscape.

Monitor developments across digital platforms to spot newsworthy stories, emerging misinformation narratives and information threats relevant to Singapore and the region.

Work with editorial, product and technology teams to develop innovative storytelling formats, verification tools and public education initiatives.

Help grow the unit by strengthening verification methodologies, editorial standards and best practices, while keeping up with emerging technologies and digital investigative techniques.

This role reports to the Editor of the new unit.
The unit goes beyond a traditional fact-checking desk to develop practical tools, educational content and innovative solutions for Singapore, Southeast Asia and beyond.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in journalism, communication studies, data science and analytics, computer science or a related discipline
At least two years of journalistic experience in a fast-paced multimedia newsroom, or equivalent experience in digital verification, digital investigations, intelligence analysis or other relevant analytical fields
Excellent command of written and spoken English
Fluency in Chinese to monitor Chinese social media and messaging platforms and analyse and verify Chinese-language misinformation
Demonstrated curiosity, persistence and ability to independently pursue complex lines of enquiry using digital research and investigative methods
Knowledge of open-source intelligence (OSINT), basic data analysis, AI research tools and online verification techniques
