About the role

This role supports a neurology diagnostic lab, delivering patient services and running neurophysiological and neurosonographical tests requested by doctors. You will work alongside medical and allied health staff, keeping the lab running smoothly and reports moving on time. It suits a fresh diploma holder or someone with a little clinical experience who is organised and comfortable with lab equipment.

What you'll do

Work with doctors and other care providers to keep patient services running smoothly
Apply basic skills and knowledge when serving patients
Carry out neurophysiological and neurosonographical diagnostic tests ordered by doctors
Prepare preliminary test reports

Enter results into the computer and pass reports to the doctor in charge for vetting

Make sure reports reach clinics and wards within the required time

File reports properly so they can be retrieved easily

Use consumables and supplies carefully and economically

Keep stock of supplies and consumables topped up

Use and care for equipment properly

Check and calibrate lab equipment and instruments, including emergency equipment

Keep service and maintenance records for equipment

Maintain a clean and safe work area

Handle patient feedback and enquiries, including service recovery and giving information where suitable

Answer phone calls and trace results when asked

Take part in service quality activities and programmes

Carry out other duties assigned by supervisors

Requirements

Diploma in Medical Science or Biotechnology
Preferably 1–2 years of related clinical service experience
Competent with computers
Good interpersonal and communication skills
