Lead, Payment Operations Strategy & Automation

About the role

Lead the operational side of how Wise handles payments that do not complete cleanly, and redesign that operation for a hybrid human and AI operating model. Own core operational metrics such as cost, first-resolution rate, defect rate and operational loss at scale. Co-shape the roadmap with the Product Manager and Engineering Lead, and act as the operations voice in strategy conversations. Ship AI-assisted workflows in production and build the evaluation and observability foundations. Grow senior individual contributors and Technical Leads into future leaders, and represent the function in cross-functional forums.

Requirements

• 6+ years in operations, product-ops or product roles at fintech, payments or high-growth tech
• Ownership of a domain end-to-end from problem to shipped outcome
• Experience partnering with a Product Manager and Engineering Lead to co-shape a roadmap
• Hands-on experience with a shipped AI, agent or LLM-driven workflow
• SQL literacy and code literacy
• Understanding of software development principles
