About the role

This role sits in the Legal, Compliance & Secretariat Department within the Corporate Planning Division, supporting the Legal & Compliance (Data Protection) Team on data privacy compliance for the group of companies. You will focus on the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act and global privacy laws, and advise on contentious matters. It suits either a specialist personal data privacy lawyer or a general commercial litigation lawyer with data privacy experience or qualifications.

What you'll do

Advise business units on personal data protection matters, including legal risks and implications of business decisions, and offer suitable solutions where possible

Work with business units to evaluate, implement and monitor internal personal data protection compliance policies, procedures, controls and remediation measures as needed

Promote and periodically update the personal data protection compliance programme

Manage and respond to data subject access requests and privacy-related complaints or disputes

Manage actual and potential civil litigation involving the company in Singapore and overseas, such as privacy or IP related litigation, including internal reviews and investigations and managing outside counsel

Advise on the handling of passenger claims

Advise on compliance with production orders or requests from law enforcement agencies and regulatory authorities in Singapore and overseas

Admission to the Singapore Bar is not required

Requirements

Law degree from a reputable university in Singapore or a Commonwealth jurisdiction
At least two years of legal experience in a reputable law firm or in-house
Excellent drafting skills
Cybersecurity experience is an added advantage
Litigation experience, especially aviation or cross-border, is an added advantage
Intellectual property experience is an added advantage
