About the role

The Computational Digital Pathology Lab at the Bioinformatics Institute, A*STAR, is hiring postdoctoral research fellows and research scientists for its AI-based Digital Pathology programme. You will join a cross-disciplinary team developing AI and machine learning methods for cancer diagnosis and prognosis using digitised pathology slides. This role suits a highly motivated scientist or recent PhD graduate with a passion for AI, computer vision and biological image processing.

What you'll do

Develop and validate AI and machine learning solutions, image processing, computer vision and mathematical modelling for pathological diagnosis and prognosis

Work with digitised pathology slides, including biopsy and whole standard slides

Implement numerical computational algorithms in Matlab, C/C++, Python or similar languages

Apply deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch

Address complex scientific problems with strong analytical and logical thinking

Collaborate with hospitals and clinical settings, and with clinical researchers

Present research findings at internal and external seminars and conferences

Write technical reports and scientific papers

Conduct independent research under the guidance of the Principal Investigator while working effectively with lab members

Learn quickly and integrate knowledge across multiple disciplines

Requirements

Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Matlab, C/C++ or Python
Extensive knowledge and experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, pattern recognition and digital image processing
Practical coding skills in implementing numerical computational algorithms
Strong analytical and logical thinking skills for solving complex scientific problems
Familiarity with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and integrate knowledge across disciplines
