About the role

This is a platform product role within the Developer Productivity Programme, which supports thousands of government engineers with platforms, tools and practices. The programme serves close to 100 agencies and their developers, including vendors, and its product suite covers CI/CD, managed runtimes, AI tooling and enablement, plus data and productivity metrics. It suits someone with strong product leadership, a real feel for developer tools and the developer experience, and the credibility to guide strategy and execution.

What you'll do

Own product strategy across the programme's full portfolio, grounding it in user insights, market trends and organisational goals.

Translate strategy into OKRs and long-term roadmaps, and drive execution within and across teams.

Define success metrics across the programme and products, track them consistently, and make sure insights lead to action.

Ensure products are actively used, deliver genuine value and are financially sustainable.

Identify opportunities the programme has not yet addressed and work with Product Managers to develop and execute new product ideas.

Drive adoption of developer productivity tools across the Whole of Government, meeting agencies at different stages of digital maturity.

Work with counterparts in engineering, policy, security and operations to unblock product rollouts, including policy constraints, security and compliance requirements, and guardrails.

Define how the programme's products evolve for an AI-native software development lifecycle, including integrating AI developer tools and building components and workflows for the government context.

Shape the product vision for AI-enabled developer tooling at scale so government engineering teams adopt AI across writing, reviewing, testing and shipping code.
