About the role

This role sits within GovTech's Platform.AI team, leading the AI Safety and Governance pillar. You will shape how AI systems used across the public sector are built to be secure, fair and accountable, working closely with engineering, policy and legal colleagues. It suits an experienced product manager who is comfortable with generative AI risk and wants to make safety a natural part of how teams ship.

What you'll do

Set the long-term strategy for AI safety as a service, moving governance from manual checklists to an automated platform feature
Turn global frameworks and local AI governance policies into platform features that make compliance effortless for developers

Establish government standards for AI risk levels and the safety benchmarks needed for different use cases

Lead development of automated evaluation engines that test products and models for prompt injection, PII leakage, toxicity and hallucination before and after deployment

Work with engineering to embed safety checks into CI/CD pipelines so safety-by-design speeds up rather than slows deployment

Build real-time monitoring tools that detect jailbreak attempts and model drift for fast mitigation of live risks

Act as the main link between policy/legal teams and engineering teams so technical tools match policy and legal intent

Grow a safety culture across GovTech through playbooks, standardised red-teaming exercises and education on LLM vulnerabilities

Define and track KPIs such as mean time to detect vulnerabilities, policy coverage percentage and guardrail efficacy rates

Requirements

Proven experience managing complex technical products in security, governance or AI/ML infrastructure
Deep understanding of generative AI risks such as prompt injection, training data poisoning and algorithmic bias
Strong ability to translate abstract ethical principles into concrete technical requirements and APIs
Background in data-driven evaluation frameworks such as RAG evaluation, perplexity scoring or model benchmarking
Understanding of developer workflows and a commitment to making safety tools an accelerant rather than a roadblock
