About the role
Join the Centre for Ageing Research and Education, a multidisciplinary academic research centre at Duke-NUS Medical School, working on a randomized controlled trial that aims to improve health and social outcomes for frail older adults after they leave hospital. This position is suited to someone with strong qualitative research skills who enjoys fieldwork, analysis and working with older people and their caregivers.
What you'll do
Lead the qualitative part of an evaluation study, covering design, fieldwork, analysis, interpretation and sharing of findings.

Create and improve semi-structured interview guides using relevant theoretical and implementation frameworks.
Build and manage purposive sampling plans across different participant groups.
Carry out in-depth interviews with older adults, caregivers and healthcare professionals in English and Mandarin or Malay as needed.
Handle qualitative data preparation such as checking transcripts, verifying translations, anonymising data, keeping fieldnotes, secure storage and quality checks.
Set up and maintain the coding framework using deductive and inductive methods, and lead coding, framework or thematic analysis, double-coding and analytic discussions.
Keep an audit trail, analytic memos and records of methodological and analytical decisions.
Work with the wider study team to link qualitative findings with study implementation and outcome results, and contribute to reports, presentations, manuscripts and other outputs.
Coordinate with study stakeholders on recruitment, fieldwork, interpretation and study procedures.
Support ethics and governance submissions, protocol amendments and study documents for the qualitative component.
Train or assist other research staff involved in qualitative data collection and analysis.
Help with other CARE initiatives when needed.
Carry out other related duties assigned by the Principal Investigator.

Requirements
Master's degree in a relevant social science, public health, health services research or related discipline is strongly preferred
Experience in implementation research, process evaluation, health services research, programme evaluation or related applied research is advantageous
Familiarity with implementation science or theory- or framework-informed qualitative research is advantageous
Spoken proficiency in English and Mandarin and/or Malay to conduct interviews independently with older adults and caregivers
Understanding of local ageing, policy and/or health contexts
At least 2 years of experience conducting semi-structured or in-depth interviews and independently analysing qualitative data
