Research Associate (AI-based Process Monitoring)

About the role

Develop novel AI methods for process monitoring in laser-based metal additive manufacturing. Collect thermal data, build data-efficient AI models, and detect process anomalies and material defects. Implement real-time layer-wise process monitoring and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on energy systems. Support lab maintenance, procurement and supplier liaison, and help produce research reports and publications. Mentor undergraduate and master students and assist with proposal writing.

Requirements

• Master's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Energy Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Machine Learning, or related fields
• Expertise in laser-based metal additive manufacturing process
• Expertise in data-driven and AI/machine learning research
• Proficiency in C++, Python, and/or Matlab
• Strong understanding of research methodologies, data analysis, and statistical techniques
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
