About the role

The Duke-NUS Centre for Outbreak Preparedness is hiring a Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow to join the Asia Pathogen Genomics Initiative, a regional network supporting 15 countries in strengthening pathogen genomics surveillance. You will act as the main link between country partners and the scientific and technical teams based in Singapore, helping turn surveillance findings into public health action. This role suits someone with a clinical or public health background who enjoys coordinating across countries and working with senior stakeholders.

Act as the main regional contact between country partners and the scientific and technical teams in Singapore.

Help design and run country-level programmes that strengthen pathogen genomics surveillance, including areas such as tuberculosis, wastewater surveillance and arboviral disease.

Coordinate technical activities across countries and across the initiative's workstreams, working with ministries of health, national public health institutes and research partners.

Support and facilitate regional and country convenings, workshops and training on pathogen genomics.

Represent the centre and the initiative in engagements with regional and global development partners, maintaining relationships with government, academic, industry and NGO stakeholders.

Translate technical and scientific findings into clear, actionable recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences, supporting research-to-policy translation at country level.

Contribute to scientific manuscripts, grant proposals, reporting, project management and ethics submissions.

Carry out other related duties as needed, including occasional administrative and coordination work.

Candidates with substantial applied research or practice experience, plus evidence of teaching, mentorship or capacity development, may be considered for a faculty position in the School.

Requirements

Combined Medical and Masters degree (or equivalent clinical and public health qualification) or PhD equivalent in a relevant field such as epidemiology, public health, communicable disease control or a closely related discipline
At least 3 years of post-degree experience supporting health systems research and development programming with governments and academic partners in Asia
Able to maintain a professional demeanour and work comfortably with high profile stakeholders from government, industry, academia, NGOs and multilateral organisations
Strong project management, coordination and analytical skills
Able to work in a multidisciplinary team and manage multiple projects at the same time
Strong written and communication skills for academic and general writing, presentations, team communication and stakeholder engagement
