About the role

This role supports the biomedical equipment management service at a national cancer centre, handling diagnostic and therapeutic equipment across the facility. You will work with a technical team and report to a supervisor, taking on both routine maintenance work and ad-hoc projects. It suits an engineer with a few years of hands-on experience who is comfortable working alongside clinical staff and external vendors.

What you'll do

Commission biomedical equipment and systems, checking safety and performance against manufacturer specifications and reading engineering documents, schematics and manuals
Troubleshoot and fix equipment faults through adjustment, alteration, repair or replacement of parts so equipment meets specifications
Identify, collate, schedule and manage in-house maintenance of biomedical equipment, including reports and data analytics, and submit related reports

Spot trends and predictive outcomes, and carry out corrective action for safety and risk management

Prepare, submit and present investigation reports to the management team

Work with stakeholders to develop specifications and help evaluate bids, negotiate and recommend purchases

Support inter-institution and inter-department collaboration and teamwork

Plan and execute project management

Give technical assistance and operating support to doctors, nurses and end-users on asset improvements and equipment purchases

Handle cybersecurity matters for medical devices and risk management

Help the supervisor coordinate service and repair activities, including vendor and stakeholder liaison, setting work priorities, assigning work and checking accuracy, completeness and safety

Maintain contract management

Support personnel functions such as staff training, competence assessment, mentoring, counselling and promotion recommendations

Oversee cluster-level projects, coordinate meetings, prepare documents and update policies and procedures

Take on any other duties as assigned

Requirements

Degree in Biomedical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
At least 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in healthcare
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Up to date with new biomedical equipment technology
Shows initiative on projects and maintenance
Dependable, self-motivated and able to work with external vendors and operators
