About the role

This role owns Data Provisioning Standards (DPS) — the rules, schemas, contracts and governance processes that govern how data enters, moves through and is consumed across the platform. It sits at the intersection of product, data engineering and governance, working with policy stakeholders, data providing agencies, engineering teams and data consuming agencies. It suits someone with a data platform or developer-facing product background who treats policy as a product and is comfortable building standards from scratch.

What you'll do

Define and own what good data provisioning looks like across WOG, covering Data Quality, Data Delivery Performance and Data Interfacing Standards, and iterate them with policy stakeholders

Design and own agency support packages for DPS implementation, matching guidance, tooling and support to each agency's technical maturity

Work with the data engineering team to translate standards into tooling for data providers, spanning data quality validation, metrics computation, pipeline integration and centralised monitoring

Own the roadmap for data quality and provisioning tooling, prioritising against provider pain points, consumer needs and adoption risk

Define and track success metrics for provisioning health such as onboarding time, data quality incident rate, schema compliance rate and time-to-detect for drift or anomalies

Write and maintain clear, versioned documentation of every standard, including rationale, migration guidance and worked examples

Work with legal and compliance where standards intersect with regulatory or consent requirements, ensuring rules satisfy consent, data minimisation and audit needs

Represent the provisioning standards function in cross-team and external or industry forums

Requirements

4+ years of product management experience, with meaningful time on a data platform, data infrastructure, API platform or developer-facing product
Demonstrated experience defining standards, contracts or schemas that other teams had to adopt, and driving adoption across teams you did not manage
Strong technical fluency with schemas, APIs, data contracts, ETL/ELT pipelines and data quality dimensions
Track record of balancing governance rigour against provider and developer experience
Excellent written communication, comfortable writing specs, migration guides and decision records
Strong stakeholder management, negotiating with data provider teams who do not report to you
