About the role
You will join the Core Engineering Products team at GovTech, Singapore's lead agency for Smart Nation and public sector digital transformation. The role focuses on designing, building and running a Whole-of-Government developer productivity platform, and it suits an engineer who enjoys systems thinking, automation and platform reliability. You will work with CI/CD tools, cloud services, container orchestration and infrastructure-as-code to deliver a secure and scalable platform for government teams.
What you'll do
Architect, implement and operate platform components across GitLab, AWS, Kubernetes EKS and Terraform.
Build reliable, scalable and secure services that support the Runtime platforms CStack and Airbase.
Continuously improve platform performance, cost efficiency and operational robustness.
Design and build workflows, tooling and paved paths so tenants can deploy and operate applications quickly, safely and consistently.
Champion automation and self-service capabilities to reduce friction for application teams.
Identify operational bottlenecks and repetitive tasks, then build automation using CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code and controllers or operators.
Work with other engineers to enable highly automated, low-touch operations.
Implement and maintain observability through logs, metrics, traces and alerts aligned with the Four Golden Signals.
Build automation for proactive health checks, anomaly detection and self-healing where practical.
Take part in on-call rotations and respond to incidents to minimise MTTR.
Lead or contribute to post-incident reviews, drive follow-ups and improve platform resilience.
Embed security through secure defaults, policy enforcement, vulnerability scanning and AWS/Kubernetes best practices.
Collaborate with security teams to meet regulatory and compliance requirements.
Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks across AWS, Kubernetes, workloads and networking.
Define, measure and improve KPIs such as MTTR, error rates, SLO compliance and cost efficiency.
Act as a technical advisor for tenants on containerisation, CI/CD and cloud-native deployment best practices.
Participate in architecture reviews and guide tenants toward stable, secure and scalable patterns.
Maintain high-quality documentation, runbooks, playbooks and architecture diagrams.
Ensure operational and onboarding processes are well understood across the team.
Stay current with cloud-native, Kubernetes, GitLab and AWS ecosystems.
Propose new approaches, technologies and improvements that enhance platform capabilities.
