About the role

Join the National Centre for Infectious Disease as a Senior Medical Social Worker, providing bio-psychosocial assessment and intervention in patient care to professional standards. You will support patients with infectious diseases and their families, addressing stigma, isolation and disease-specific psychosocial needs. This role suits an experienced medical social worker who can lead in a specialised area and work with multi-disciplinary and community partners.

What you'll do

Provide end-to-end case management for complex or specialised cases through assessment, care planning, intervention and evaluation
Address stigma, isolation concerns and disease-specific psychosocial challenges
Lead as a domain subject expert in developing, running and evaluating group work sessions

Build social support systems and networks for patients and their families

Formulate and outline outreach programmes for individuals and target groups

Help develop and evaluate new service delivery models, programmes and protocols

Deliver public education talks on infectious disease psychosocial topics, stigma reduction and community support

Network with community partners, public health agencies and infectious disease organisations

Identify service gaps and recommend improvements to programmes for target client groups and stakeholders

Plan, manage and deliver programmes for patients, families, multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders

Take part in reviews of inter-departmental policies and processes on infectious disease management and infection control

Engage in research on infectious disease psychosocial interventions and outcomes

Apply social work ethics and values, including managing sensitive health information and addressing discrimination

Requirements

Recognised qualification in Social Work
3–5 years of experience as a Medical Social Worker
Experience in infectious disease settings, public health or with stigmatised populations is highly desirable
Commit to social vision and build collaborative networks across healthcare and community sectors
Advocate for clients facing infectious disease challenges and foster self-sufficiency
Seek insights and take courageous actions to influence change in infectious disease care
