About the role

This role leads the Sterilization and Microbiological Laboratory team at Medtronic Singapore Operations, which manufactures and supplies medical technologies worldwide. The function provides microbiological testing, laboratory services, environmental controls and sterilization support to protect product quality, patient safety and regulatory compliance. It suits an experienced microbiologist with supervisory background who enjoys partnering with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering and Regulatory teams in an onsite laboratory and manufacturing setting.

What you'll do

Lead and supervise the Sterilization and Microbiological Laboratory team so testing, monitoring and sterilization activities meet production schedules and quality goals.

Oversee microbiological analysis of raw materials, in-process materials, release samples, stability samples and other materials against established procedures and specifications.

Direct sterilization operations and related quality activities to meet regulatory, quality system and operational requirements.

Review and evaluate microbiological and sterilization data, interpret results, spot trends and put corrective and preventive actions in place when needed.

Develop, validate, implement and maintain controlled environment and microbiological testing methods supporting manufacturing and quality programmes.

Drive process improvements using existing analytical techniques, adapting methodologies for greater efficiency and supporting new testing approaches.

Support investigations into deviations, nonconformances, out-of-specification results and quality events, working with cross-functional teams on root cause and corrective actions.

Provide leadership in talent development, performance management, workforce planning, employee engagement and delivery of departmental objectives.

This is a full-time, onsite position based in Singapore.
The role is eligible for a short-term incentive under the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

Requirements

Bachelor's degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience in microbiology, sterilization, laboratory operations, quality or a related regulated manufacturing environment, or an advanced degree with at least 1 year of relevant experience
Experience leading or supervising employees, including work prioritization, coaching, performance management and delivery of operational objectives
Experience performing or overseeing microbiological testing, laboratory operations, environmental monitoring or sterilization-related activities
Experience investigating quality issues, deviations, nonconformances or corrective and preventive actions in a regulated environment
