About the role
This role provides physiotherapy services within a hospital setting, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The physiotherapist manages a caseload of patients across various clinical areas and supports the department's daily operations. It suits a qualified physiotherapist who can work independently and collaborate closely with colleagues.
What you'll do
Assess, diagnose and manage patients within your defined scope of practice
Apply clinical reasoning to identify problems and impairments
Develop hypotheses and differential diagnoses for common presentations
Make clinical decisions based on best practice and research evidence
Create and implement patient-centred intervention and management plans
Deliver physiotherapy interventions safely and effectively
Manage an allocated caseload and provide coverage when needed
Maintain accurate and current medical reports for continuity of care
Follow JCI standards and established billing procedures
Use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and navigate hospital electronic medical records
Maintain workload statistics as required by the department and hospital
Coordinate processes and workflow within teams
Engage in patient and caregiver education
Provide cross-coverage for colleagues to balance workload
Provide after-hours and on-call therapist services when required
Assist with care and maintenance of equipment, materials and resources
Attend department meetings, ward rounds and professional meetings
Liaise with healthcare professionals within the hospital and external organisations
Demonstrate professional behaviour, including respect for patient privacy and personal hygiene
Adhere to hospital and department policies and procedures
Participate in department activities such as the Fitness Challenge
Keep knowledge up to date through independent reading and relevant courses
Contribute to colleagues' professional development through inservices and peer reviews
Assist with on-the-job training of therapy assistants
Help supervise and appraise therapy assistants
Supervise personnel, observers and students on clinical placements
Contribute to Kaizen and service quality improvement projects
Report to the Senior Physiotherapist/Manager and provide feedback on service delivery
Collect research data as assigned
Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor/Manager

Occasional contribution to team or departmental projects outside office hours may be required
Requirements
Possess entry-level physiotherapy skills and knowledge
Able to work independently in assessment, diagnosis and management within scope of practice
Understand limits of expertise and seek guidance proactively
Basic IT skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Able to use hospital electronic medical records applications
Willing to provide after-hours and on-call services
