About the role

This is a core technical position in the NexGen Programme Office, focused on engineering end-to-end integration of the systems that make up the Next Generation Air Navigation Services capability. You will provide system-level technical leadership across architecture, interfaces, data exchanges, integration assurance and emergent behaviour. It suits an experienced systems engineer who enjoys working on complex, mission-critical distributed systems.

What you'll do

Define and maintain the SoS integration architecture, technical baselines and integration roadmap
Drive integration of multiple mission-critical ANS systems

Analyse system boundaries, dependencies, interface contracts, message flows, timing constraints and failure propagation paths

Establish integration strategies, roadmap and implementation plans for coherent end-to-end behaviour

Evaluate system integration designs, interface specifications and technical proposals for interoperability, maintainability and resilience

Lead technical planning and execution of incremental integration, verification and validation across laboratory, pre-operational and operational environments

Define integration sequences, test configurations, interface and fault-injection scenarios, acceptance criteria and verification matrices

Investigate cross-system defects using logs, traces and configuration records

Perform root-cause and impact analyses

Manage interface changes and configuration baselines

Drive closure of SoS integration risks

Collaborate and communicate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders

Full time
Offered as a 3-year contract in the first instance, with possible placement on permanent tenure or subsequent contract renewal
Appointment designation will commensurate with relevant work experience

Requirements

Trained in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field
More than 3 years of relevant experience in system engineering or a related field
Proven experience in system integration, systems engineering or solution architecture for complex, distributed or mission-critical systems
Strong knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle processes, including requirements definition and management, architecture development, interface management, integration, verification, validation, configuration management, technical assessment and risk management
Ability to interpret and challenge technical designs and facilitate trade-off discussions across technical and operational stakeholders
Excellent written and presentation skills
