About the role

This role provides veterinary care for the animals at Mandai Wildlife Reserve, working within the veterinary healthcare and scientific programmes team. It suits a licensed veterinarian with zoo or wildlife experience who enjoys both clinical work and laboratory diagnostics.

What you'll do

Perform safe physical, chemical and behavioural restraint of patients
Diagnose medical conditions using clinical pathology, diagnostic imaging, microbiology and cytology
Formulate treatment or management plans for individual animals and for herd or flock health
Carry out basic soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries

Perform invasive and non-invasive endoscopic procedures

Practise evidence-based medicine suited to the animals

Run basic laboratory tests

Present cases and share opinions at various forums

Manage operational emergency situations

Manage animal emergency and critical care, including intensive care planning

Perform gross necropsies, sample collection for histopathology, biobanking and ancillary tests, plus data analysis and report writing

Carry out routine histopathology processing and reading

Assist with clinical pathology analysis

Keep necropsy facility equipment clean and organised

Prepare and maintain accurate records

Support the veterinary team in laboratory diagnosis of disease and join daily case rounds and discussions

Good to know

Work includes weekends, holidays and after-hours assignments
Based at Mandai Wildlife Reserve, Singapore

Requirements

Internationally recognised degree in Veterinary Medicine
Licensed with Singapore AVS, or eligible to apply for a licence
At least 5 years in general zoo or wildlife practice
Intermediate competency in management, technical and scientific aspects of zoo animal and wildlife medicine
Class 3 driving licence
Good analytical skills
