Career Conversion Programmes: switch fields and get paid while you learn

How it works

• Place-and-Train (the usual route): an employer hires you into the new role, then trains you on the job, typically for 3 to 24 months.
• Attach-and-Train: you train with a host company first, with a training allowance, and good chances of a job at the end.
• There are close to 100 CCPs across about 30 sectors, from healthcare and social work to logistics, finance and manufacturing.

Who qualifies

• Singapore Citizen or PR, aged 21 or above.
• At least 2 years since you graduated or finished NS.
• The new role must be a real change from what you did before. If you have been out of work for 2 years or more, a similar role can count.
• You cannot be a shareholder of, or related to the owners of, the hiring company, or have just left it.
• Since April 2025, some CCPs also work with part-time or other flexible hours.

Why employers say yes

The employer gets up to 70% of your monthly salary back during training (capped at $5,000 a month), or up to 90% (capped at $7,500) if you are 40 or above or have been job-hunting for 6 months or more. You are a regular employee on a market salary: nothing comes out of your pay.

How to find a CCP role

• Browse all programmes on the CCP portal and contact the programme manager listed for the field you want.
• Ask a career coach at SWDA (formerly Workforce Singapore) or e2i which CCPs fit your background.
• When you apply for a job in a new field, ask the employer whether it can be done under a CCP. Many smaller employers do not know about it, and it may be what gets you hired.
