About the role
This role sits with the food and beverage service team at 1887 by André, a Mediterranean restaurant within Raffles Hotel Singapore. You will look after guests throughout their dining experience, working to the hotel's service standards while helping the outlet hit its financial and service targets. It suits someone who enjoys guest interaction, takes pride in presentation, and is keen to build a career in hospitality.
What you'll do
Deliver warm, personalised and efficient service to all guests in line with hotel procedures
Stay well groomed and meet the hotel's grooming standards at all times
Welcome guests and colleagues and say a friendly goodbye to them
Help guests and teammates promptly and professionally
Know the food and beverage menus well, including liquors and cocktails, so you can advise guests
Learn about Mediterranean cuisine and current culinary trends through on-the-job training
Suggest menu items, give recommendations and take orders
Offer drinks before, during and after the meal
Remember guests' names and preferences to make service more personal
Key orders accurately into the Point of Sales system, including seat positions and allergens
Check the order list before sending the ticket to the kitchen
Anticipate what guests need so they rarely have to ask or follow up
Check on guest satisfaction at each table at suitable points in the service sequence and when the main course is served
Use guests' names appropriately and share them with restaurant colleagues and managers
Serve the right food with all condiments promptly and at the correct temperature
Set up tables to the required standard and in good time
Set up and maintain assigned side stations, restocking before and after each shift so nothing runs out
Keep silverware and glassware polished, wiped and spotless
Keep side stations clean at all times
Keep chairs and banquettes clean and free of debris
Mark tables to match each course order so food is delivered correctly
Make sure everything served is on the final bill before presenting it
Clear and tidy tables between courses
Collect the check before guests leave and thank them with a warm farewell
Hand in all checks and reports to the right place at the end of the shift
Follow the posted opening, closing and side duty checklists
Adapt service to guest requests and personalise each interaction
Use the Heartist approach so guests feel welcome, heart-warmed, incredible and that they belong
Upsell actively and add value
Pass any guest complaints to the manager straight away
Keep dish wash, pantry and service preparation running efficiently
Maintain cleanliness and safety in food preparation and service areas
Handle ad hoc tasks such as sending operating equipment for weekly cleaning or burnishing, exchanging soiled linen, helping with stock counts and collecting daily food and beverage requisitions

Requirements
Certificate or diploma in hospitality or a related field, or at least 6 months of hands-on food service experience in a similar operation
Retail or guest interaction experience
Food and/or beverage knowledge, whether from personal interest or professional work
Bartending experience is an advantage
Interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate openly and with integrity
Spoken and written English communication skills
