About the role
This role sits with a data services team at a semiconductor manufacturing site in Singapore, looking after the database systems that support manufacturing and engineering operations. It suits someone early in their career who is comfortable with SQL and database administration and happy to join an on-call rotation. You will work alongside site customers and colleagues worldwide on database reliability and improvement.
What you'll do
Install and upgrade database systems, apply patches and roll out changes
Troubleshoot database errors and keep systems highly available
Handle database access, backups and compliance with security standards
Make changes to critical databases used by manufacturing and engineering
Support incident, request, change and problem management for database operations
Meet service levels for incidents and service requests
Track metrics such as breach cases, MTTR and first level resolution
Provide on-call support, including outside office hours
Carry out business continuity planning and capacity forecasting
Plan, run and validate disaster recovery and failover testing
Work with site customers on new database needs, problems and data flow requests
Tune database performance for speed and availability
Monitor performance proactively and analyse cases to stop repeat issues
Review and improve database monitoring
Develop processes and operating procedures for database operations
Build and manage database reports, visualisations and dashboards
Engineer solutions and automations to boost productivity, reliability and availability
Spot recurring operational problems, analyse trends and put preventive measures in place
Recommend and adopt emerging database technologies
Take part in worldwide technical sharing and reference architecture alignment
Use AI-assisted tools and insights in daily work with sound judgement and compliance
Contribute to continuous improvement by testing and sharing AI-enabled enhancements

On-call support is required, including outside of office hours

Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics, Computer or Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent experience
0 to 4 years of experience
Strong command of SQL and SQL Server tools
Effective spoken and written communication
Strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills
Willing to provide on-call support outside office hours
