About the role
This role sits with a data services team at a semiconductor manufacturing site, looking after the database systems that support manufacturing and engineering operations. It suits an engineer who is comfortable with hands-on database administration, on-call duties and continuous improvement work.
What you'll do
Install and upgrade database systems, apply patches and roll out changes
Troubleshoot and fix database errors to keep systems highly available
Handle database access, backups and adherence to security and database standards
Make changes to critical databases used by manufacturing and engineering
Support incident, request, change and problem management for database operations
Meet service level agreements for incidents and service requests with quality work
Hit critical metrics such as breach case targets, MTTR and first level resolution
Provide on-call support, including outside office hours
Carry out business continuity planning and capacity forecasting
Plan, run and validate disaster recovery exercises, failover testing and recovery steps
Work with site customers on new database needs, problem resolution and data flow requests
Tune database performance for high availability
Monitor database performance proactively and analyse cases to stop repeat issues
Review and improve database monitoring
Develop processes and operating procedures for database operations
Create and manage database reports, visualisations and dashboards
Engineer solutions and automations to boost productivity, efficiency, reliability and availability
Spot recurring operational challenges, run trend analysis and put preventive measures in place
Recommend and roll out emerging database technologies
Take part in worldwide collaboration for technical sharing and reference architecture alignment
Use AI-assisted tools and insights in daily work with sound judgement and compliance
Contribute to continuous improvement by testing and sharing AI-enabled enhancements

Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics/Computer/Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent experience
Strong command of SQL and SQL server tools
Effective spoken and written communication
Strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills
Willingness to provide on-call support outside office hours
