About the role

This is a one-year temporary contract role in the Asset Services Division, focused on reviewing and strengthening how fixed assets are accounted for and managed. You will take improvement initiatives from assessing the current state through to developing solutions and getting them implemented with stakeholders. It suits an experienced finance professional who likes solving problems and seeing changes through.

What you'll do

Lead reviews of asset capitalisation, write-off and confirmation practices, resolving accounting and operational issues and improving processes and controls

Work with finance, project teams and other stakeholders to develop practical solutions and drive implementation

Lead development and operationalisation of policies and frameworks for asset accounting and management

Research existing practices and requirements, develop policy proposals, engage MOT and other stakeholders, and translate agreed positions into practical approaches

Review and update SOPs, guidelines and process documentation so they stay current, practical and aligned with accounting, policy and operational needs

Communicate agreed practices with stakeholders and turn them into clear, sustainable processes

Support key asset accounting and management activities during peak periods

Requirements

Knowledge in Accountancy or an equivalent professional qualification
Experience in fixed assets management, preferably in the public sector or a large organisation
Able to analyse issues holistically and develop practical solutions to business challenges
Strong learning agility and willingness to take on new challenges
Self-motivated, resourceful and able to work independently in a dynamic environment
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to collaborate and build partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
