The role sits within a hospital A&E team on rotating shifts, including nights, and suits people who stay calm under pressure and communicate well with the public.

Receive and assist patients and visitors at the counter
Answer phone calls and handle enquiries promptly and politely
Register patients attending A&E
Tell patients the estimated wait for consultation
Collect payment before A&E service and after attendance for non-standard services, and account for the money collected
Prepare forms and complete admission paperwork
Provide financial counselling to patients and family members, including for transfers to other hospitals
Direct patients needing financial help to the right department
Obtain general consent for admission and keep follow-up documentation
Obtain specialist outpatient clinic appointments for urgent cases and inform patients by SMS or call
Notify the clinic about OPAT cases
Carry out death registration and report to ICA for on-the-ground troubleshooting
Keep patient information accurate, up to date and confidential
Liaise with nurses and doctors about patients waiting a long time for consultation
Help the supervisor plan the department roster when staff are absent
Support the manager, supervisor or nursing officer with work improvements and data collection
Conduct on-the-job training for new A&E staff
Keep patient property safe
Handle patient feedback or complaints before escalating to a supervisor, executive or manager
Update chat group data on bed wait and financial counselling turnaround times
Arrange and replenish brochures, magazines and newspapers daily
Keep counters and the patient waiting area clean and tidy
Check equipment such as fax machines, printers, copiers, computers, barcode readers and label printers are working
Encourage patients to complete feedback forms
Do filing and collect data for statistics
Call facilities or maintenance for repairs
Take part in process improvement projects and corporate events
