About the role
This role sits within the Institutional Banking Group Operations team, handling trade finance transactions for corporate and institutional clients. It suits someone with prior banking trade operations experience who is comfortable with structured and commodity finance work. You will work closely with the Structured Trade Middle Office and other internal partners.
What you'll do
Process trade finance products such as import and export letters of credit, SBLC issuance, amendments and settlements
Follow operating procedures, regulatory rules and bank policies when handling transactions
Meet service level agreements through timely and accurate daily processing
Carry out trade compliance and risk checks, including sanctions screening, IMB and LLI checks, and spotting red flags
Escalate operational risk incidents, exceptions and compliance concerns promptly
Review client instructions, follow up on discrepancies or missing documents, and obtain supporting documents before execution
Manage client inquiries and provide guidance on trade finance matters
Monitor daily workflow to keep operations efficient and meet client expectations
Track structured trade transactions end to end and give regular status updates to the Structured Trade Middle Office
Work with STMO, business units, Global Transaction Services and other stakeholders to resolve issues
Keep to departmental SOPs, internal controls, compliance and governance standards
Suggest process improvements, efficiency gains and risk reduction ideas
Take part in user acceptance testing, live verification and system enhancement work
Support ad-hoc projects and departmental assignments
Maintain filing, document retention and archiving of trade records
Handle administrative duties such as DHL courier manifest preparation and document dispatch

Requirements
University graduate and/or at least 2 to 3 years of trade finance operations experience in a bank
Preferably experienced in structured and commodity finance
Client service oriented with sound judgement on transaction monitoring and escalation
Proficient in SWIFT messages such as MT7xx, MT4xx, MT202 and MT103
Competent in applying URC522 and URR725
Working knowledge of UCP600, ISBP, ISP98 and Incoterms is an advantage
