About the role

Join the culinary team at Black Tap, located in Marina Bay Sands, as a Commis Chef. You will support the senior kitchen leadership in keeping daily kitchen operations running smoothly and to standard. This role suits someone with a positive attitude who takes pride in their work and enjoys working alongside skilled colleagues.

What you'll do

Support the Executive Chef, Executive Sous Chef and the wider team with efficient preparation across all kitchen operations

Act as a coordination point for communication between team members and the senior chefs

Follow company grooming standards and industry expectations

Help the senior chefs with menu development, recipe cards and plating guides

Take charge of food production from delivery through to the guest's plate, including step-by-step preparation

Maintain food quality to set standards, keeping items in proper sanitary condition and following first-in-first-out practice

Monitor food production to ensure it follows prescribed recipes and specifications, including presentation and portioning controls

Be hands-on with timely pre-preparation before rush hours and for the next day's mise en place

Keep culinary work areas clean and sanitary, and make sure colleagues clean their stations after every service

Ensure equipment is used safely and properly, and instruct culinary colleagues to do the same

Requirements

Follow hygiene policies strictly on a daily basis and check that cooks apply all standards
Maintain high cleanliness and sanitation standards in and around culinary work areas
Ensure safe and proper use of equipment and instruct culinary colleagues accordingly
Show a positive attitude and take pride in your work
Report to work on time according to culinary department schedules
Follow correct procedures for reporting sickness or absence
