About the role

This role leads all communication activities for a hotel, with a strong focus on public relations, to support the property's image and revenue goals. It suits an experienced marketing or communications professional who can plan strategy and manage a team. You will work closely with the Director of Marketing and external agencies.

Develop an annual communications plan with goals and budgets, and brief the communications team on progress.
Compare actual results against goals regularly and take corrective action.
Assist the Director of Marketing with planning and overseeing mailing activities.
Keep the corporate identity manual up to date and ensure it is followed.
Prepare the monthly sales and marketing communications report on time.
Supervise photography for advertising, collateral and PR, working with the Director of Marketing, ad agency and corporate field marketing.
Maintain a master slide, photo and CD library for advertising, collateral and PR, and send materials to corporate office for the image library.
Supervise the in-house art department.
Monitor competitor hotels and industry trends.
Act as official hotel spokesperson and respond to media requests within 24 hours.
Build and maintain a media contact list, manage accounts, delegate to staff and personally handle key media relationships.
Write press releases for local, regional and international media.
Work with corporate and international press offices to develop story angles.
Support community and government relations and handle VIPs.
Secure opportunities, direct and attend hotel-sponsored events, and build partner relationships.
Create and organise press promotional activities.
Join press events or trips arranged by regional PR offices when needed.
Conduct press blitzes when appropriate.
Keep press kit information complete and current.
Work with the Director of Marketing and ad agency on creative and media plans for rooms and food and beverage campaigns.
Maximise the advertising budget by keeping the hotel's message consistent with sister hotels and group advertising.
Ensure advertising creative aligns with the company's quality message.
Review market segmentation and marketing reports to match media scheduling.
Monitor media schedules and ensure prompt settlement of accounts.
Take an integrated approach to direct marketing to project a consistent image.
Assist the Director of Marketing with planning, implementing and tracking electronic marketing activities.
Maintain budget control.
Coordinate and execute production of printed materials with ad agencies, following corporate identity specifications.
Keep hotel information updated on the internet and intranet.
Supervise production and quality of displays and temporary signage in public areas.
Supervise and budget for gift items, ensuring correct logo usage.
Supervise the in-house graphic designer and/or print shop.
