About the role
This role leads the housekeeping function at a hotel in the Katong area, overseeing daily operations, team performance and guest satisfaction. It suits an experienced housekeeping supervisor or executive housekeeper who is comfortable managing budgets, inspections and staff development in a full-service hotel setting.
What you'll do
Support management of departmental labour and expenses
Help prepare the annual departmental operating budget and financial plans
Monitor and control departmental spending against budget
Analyse expenses and identify areas for improvement to drive profitability
Conduct regular linen and operating supplies stock takes to maintain sufficient stock and reduce loss
Set par levels for supplies and equipment and replenish shortages
Lead, direct and support the front office team daily and hold daily shift briefings with the housekeeping team
Manage the day-to-day activities of the housekeeping team
Train, manage and motivate the housekeeping team to deliver high service standards and meet targets
Promote teamwork and quality service through daily coordination with other departments such as Sales and Marketing, Catering, Outlets, Housekeeping, Finance, Maintenance and Guest Services
Monitor and develop team performance, including supervision, scheduling, counselling, evaluations and recognition
Administer the performance management cycle with quarterly check-ins and regular catch-ups
Work with Human Resources on recruitment to ensure staffing needs are met
Identify training gaps and work with Learning & Development colleagues to close them
Ensure staff are properly trained and have the tools and equipment needed for their duties
Provide daily direction and support to the team
Interact with guests to ensure satisfaction, vendors on inventory, pricing and performance issues, regulatory agencies on safety and compliance, and other contacts as needed
Ensure rooms are prepared according to IHG Way of Clean procedures
Coordinate special requests with Guest Services for memorable stays
Ensure all housekeeping duties meet the highest standard for guest comfort and efficiency
Greet guests on arrival and respond promptly and professionally to requests and complaints, making service recovery gestures as needed
Inspect guest rooms and public areas regularly to ensure furnishings, facilities and equipment are clean, well maintained and replaced or refurbished as required
Check vacant clean rooms on the report and report discrepancies to housekeeping and the duty manager
Analyse Guest Heartbeat surveys and social media reviews to identify gaps or trends and put corrective preventive actions in place
Plan, schedule and organise housekeeping work to ensure proper coverage, and communicate and enforce policies and procedures
Develop and implement procedures for managing housekeeping and laundry quality, schedule routine inspections, and advise employees of deficiencies and corrective action
Requirements
Diploma in Hospitality Management or other relevant qualification
Minimum 2 years' related experience as an Executive Housekeeper in a full service hotel
Oral and written fluency in English
Fluency in another language is an advantage
Commitment to work rotating shifts, weekends and public holidays
Great communication skills and ability to interact with guests, employees and third parties
