About the role

Join the culinary team at Jin Ting Wan, a dining outlet at Marina Bay Sands, as a Commis I. You will support the Chef de Partie and Sous Chefs in daily kitchen operations, preparing and presenting food to the outlet's standards. This role suits someone with some culinary training and kitchen experience who takes pride in their work and can adapt to changing business needs.

Carry out tasks as directed by the Chef de Partie and Sous Chefs
Work any day of the week and any shift according to business needs
Stay focused and finish one task before moving to the next
Complete the assigned work list within an acceptable time frame
Attend company trainings and take part in learning opportunities
Keep calm and efficient while maintaining good working relations in the culinary, pastry or bakery department
Show a positive attitude and take pride in the food produced for guests
Follow company policies and statutory rules on health and safety, sanitation and fire procedures
Report maintenance defects to culinary management through the proper procedures
Maintain high grooming standards and good customer relations, especially in public hotel areas
Report to work on time as scheduled and follow correct procedures for sickness or absence
Monitor food production to meet prescribed recipes, specifications, presentation and portioning standards
Ensure food quality, sanitary condition and First In First Out kitchen practice
Store all food products properly in the appropriate fridges and containers during each shift
Keep culinary work areas clean and sanitary, and make sure colleagues clean their stations after every service
Use equipment safely and properly, and instruct culinary colleagues to do the same

Requirements

Degree, diploma or certification in culinary arts, patisserie or bakery
1–3 years of experience in culinary arts, pastry or bakery work
Able to identify different kinds and categories of raw materials
Basic cooking and sanitary knowledge
Able to monitor basic cooking preparation techniques and use knives
Well-groomed and professional appearance
