About the role
This role sits within an engineering team focused on the Integrated Scan Assembly (ISA) and involves leading mechanical design work across the product development lifecycle. You will guide a project team of mechanical hardware engineers plus internal and outsourced development partners to deliver reliable, cost-effective, high-quality solutions. It suits an experienced mechanical engineer who enjoys technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration and hands-on design work.
What you'll do
Drive mechanical design execution for the ISA across the product lifecycle, covering architecture input, part design, prototyping, build support, verification and design iteration
Own ISA mechanical verification and validation for assigned scopes, including defining, executing and closing out test plans and technical risks

Work closely with FW, Servo and IQ teams to ensure ISA system functionality, performance and quality throughout the product lifecycle
Serve as the key technical interface to program and cross-functional teams such as EE, FW, ID, Manufacturing, Quality and Supplies, aligning on requirements, trade-offs and execution plans
Develop and implement parameters and test plans for new and existing designs, validating tolerances, form/fit/function, shock and vibration, electromagnetic interference, safety and reliability
Apply comprehensive understanding of concepts and principles within your area of experience
Communicate with management, internal teams and outsourced development partners on design status, project progress and issue resolution
Manage relationships with outsourced partners and suppliers, setting expectations on deliverables, product quality, schedules and costs, and ensuring team members collaborate effectively with outsourced resources
Lead a project team of mechanical hardware engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost-effective, high-quality solutions for moderately complex products
Generate process efficiencies and products that meet business requirements through quality documentation and project management
Solve problems in straightforward situations by analysing possible solutions using technical experience, judgement and precedents
Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced staff members

Requirements
Four-year or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline, or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence
Typically 4–7 years of work experience, preferably in engineering design and solutions or implementation across the hardware development lifecycle
Alternatively, an advanced degree with 3–5 years of work experience
Knowledge of 3D modeling and computer-aided design
Familiarity with Ansys simulation software
Understanding of electromechanics and mechanical systems
