About the role

This role leads the backend team behind Scribe, Grab's in-house clickstream instrumentation and insights platform, which handles user activity data across all Grab apps at petabyte scale. The team is split between Singapore and Ho Chi Minh City and collaborates closely with Mobile Platform, Product Analytics, Data Warehouse and Developer AI groups. It suits an experienced engineer who can set technical direction, own platform architecture and costs, and mentor senior engineers and interns.

Own the architecture and roadmap for Scribe's backend, covering the ingestion gateway, event-lifecycle services, streaming and data-lake pipelines, and the APIs behind the Scribe Portal and Scribe MCP.

Drive Project MEGA through to completion as business-as-usual, including typed specs, producer-side validation, CI guardrails, and agent-driven migration of legacy events.

Design and deliver the governed clickstream data layer and event vocabulary supporting funnel analytics and user-understanding use cases.

Run the platform cost programme, covering event lineage, automated deprecation, retention policy, gateway right-sizing and legacy stream retirement, with chargeback to producing teams.

Write RFCs, push cross-team technical decisions to closure, and represent Scribe in architecture and operational-excellence reviews.

Own operational excellence for a critical platform, including on-call process, incident response, post-mortems, fire drills, SLA and data-loss monitoring.

Lead an engineering team working across diverse technical stacks and develop the next generation of technical leads.
